Teresa Bau
Journalist with a curious mind
“The coronavirus pandemic has been a harsh blow to my former lifestyle. When I looked backed 12 months I can see a very different life: I had a heavy social life with dates and parties nearly every weekend; I travelled a lot, taking dozens of planes a year; and I was always in a hurry, as I needed to do a tone of things every day (work meetings, shopping, taking kids to ballet and drama, cocktails with friends…)”
2021 has started with lockdowns and curfews in many cities. But, I have to say, with a lot less stress in my life than in the pre-pandemic times. And as much as I want the coronavirus to be under control, I totally don’t want to go back to the frenziness of my old life.
These are my new year’s resolutions for 2021. My goal: to have better physical and mental health and, why not, to be happier.
- As I work from home and I now have more time on my hands (no need to commute to the office for 45 minutes) I will pedal my stationary bike for 45 minutes while I sip my coffee and check the news on the phone.
- I will have healthier meals cooked at home using organic products bought at my local shops
- After lunch, I will go out for a short walk to get a bit of sunshine and to have a break from sitting down in front of the computer
- I will meet my friends at the park for a walk instead of meeting for drinks at the trendiest new wine bar in the city
- I will go swimming at least three times a week
- I will increase my reading time (at least one book a month) and will reduce my Netflix, HBO, and Amazon Prime consume
- I will spend more time with my family and friends and less on social media.
I am sure that if I stick to these rules my physical and mental health will improve a great deal.
