Menopause is a gradual and lengthy process, contrary to common belief. Many people perceive menopause as reaching its peak when we definitively stop menstruating, and within a matter of months or even days, “the years catch up with you” unexpectedly. This perception can make it more challenging for us to integrate this inevitable change in any woman’s life.
All Grace of no Age ambassadors agree that menopause is an opportunity for a “reset,” a restart of our lives, reconnecting deeply with our souls to pay homage to the first part of our existence. By doing so, we can design and install a way of living, thinking, and feeling that makes us mature, fulfilled, and happy women, responding to every impulse and call of the heart.
The first tool to make this a reality is to have accurate and clear information about what this time in a woman’s life entails:
Menopause Basics
It’s a perfectly natural process that we will all experience. It’s not a disease or an annoying new state to which we must resign ourselves.
In any process of change, adjustments and imbalances occur. For something to readjust, movement is essential, sometimes very deep or intense, sometimes not.
We all experience this process differently, as it is related to our history and the resources we have. Your experience is valid and perfect for you, and you have the best answer to take care of yourself and help you live through the change.
The most noticeable changes occur at the physical level, and that’s where we usually focus our attention. However, the series of transformations we experience emotionally, mentally, and spiritually are more important and even delicate. Advancing in life means moving back toward the Spirit.
1, 2, 3 of Menopause
Menopause can last up to 12 years. It is generally divided into three stages:
Perimenopause, lasting approximately between the ages of 42 and 49. During this period, the body begins to undergo subtle hormonal changes, which are sometimes imperceptible, or rarely associated with menopause. In our environment, we begin to notice that life is changing, suddenly perceiving signs that we are no longer as young as we thought.
Menopause: said to occur between the ages of 49 and 53, clinically, it’s when we go a year without having a menstrual period. Among the clearest subtle changes, we feel the certainty that what once was, no longer is, and we perceive a certain emptiness. In some cases, this can be a very difficult experience, while in others, it can feel like great liberation.
Postmenopause: this is the period when the body fully adapts to the new state, usually occurring between the ages of 53 and 56. Outwardly, it’s a time when we are aware of what has gone, what has stayed, but above all, what we want to define for our lives moving forward. We are free and cultivate an unexpected experience.
Consciously knowing and assimilating all this information is undoubtedly an important tool not only to lighten the process of change but also to embrace it and enjoy it wonderfully. Don’t miss the opportunity to do so. Living through menopause consciously has been one of the best gifts that God has given us.
